Retreat Shows Youth How to Practice Sabbath

Youth from six United Methodist churches gathered at Lutherdale Camp in Elkhorn, Wis., for “In Rhythm,” a weekend retreat of worship, fellowship, and Sabbath rest from Sept. 26–28. Led by guest speaker Uli Widmaier from Congregation Etz Chaim, participants explored the Sabbath as a joyful gift from God and a time for renewal, connection, and justice. Through worship, small groups, and recreation, the retreat deepened relationships and helped youth grow together in Christ’s rhythm of grace.

First Korean Marks 102 Years by Hosting Refugees

First Korean UMC in Wheeling celebrated its 102nd anniversary on September 13 by hosting “First Love for God, Best Love for Neighbors: Great Feast for Refugees and Neighbors.” The event welcomed about 120 refugees and more than 170 volunteers for a day of worship, music, food, and fellowship. Volunteers greeted families from refugee centers across Chicago, creating a joyful and welcoming space that embodied the spirit of loving one’s neighbor.
