Bishop's Appeal offering benefits youth campers

Thanks to the generosity of NIC churches, more children will be able to experience camp and grow closer to Christ. This year’s special Bishop’s Appeal offering at Annual Conference totaled $53,437 to help support Outdoor and Retreat Ministries.

Legislation seeks more inclusive church

Much of the legislation that passed at the 2019 Northern Illinois Annual Conference reflected the disapproval of the Traditional Plan adopted at the General Conference Special Session in February that enhances current policies around homosexuality in the Book of Discipline and strengthens enforcement of those rules.

Many people around the world and around the corner will have a new clean towel, soap, a toothbrush, and many other personal hygiene items to help them through a disaster or humanitarian crisis thanks to Northern Illinois United Methodists.

Northern Illinois UMs among 600 attendees at UMCNext

NIC representatives respond to the UMC-Next meeting in Kansas which brought together 600 centrists and progressives representing every United Methodist Annual Conference in the United States to engage in Christian Conferencing about how to respond to the passage of the Traditional Plan.
