Celebrating Hispanic/Latinx Ministries at Annual Conference

The Hispanic/Latinx Ministries of our Northern Illinois Conference has a tradition of offering a dinner during the sessions of our Annual Conference. This feast could not happen in the last years because of COVID restrictions. Like other groups, they were eager to get together, talk, laugh, eat and share about their ministries.

2022 Annual Conference Highlights

The 183rd Northern Illinois Annual Conference wrapped up on Friday, June 10 after three days of worship, business, Bible study, ordination, and reconnecting with one another after being apart for three years.

Celebrating Asian American Pacific Islander Month

On Sunday, May 22, more than a hundred people gathered at First Korean UMC in Wheeling, Ill., to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage and raise awareness of Anti-Asian violence. The Northern Illinois Conference Fellowship of Asian Americans (FAA) and the Annual Conference Shepherding Team (ACST) Anti-RacismTask Force partnered together to put together worship and program for the event, which included several local and national speakers.

United Media Resource Center Director looking forward to retirement

For the last 20 years, Jill Stone has managed the United Media Resource Center (UMCR) housed in the Illinois Great Rivers Conference Center (IGRC). In 2017, the NIC Media Resource Center merged with the UMRC adding to a large lending library of Christian materials and has enjoyed a great partnership with Jill.

United Media Resource Center Moving to New Location

The United Media Resource is entering into a new location and partnership with Kumler United Methodist Church in Springfield, Illinois. As part of the transition, Kumler UMC will be housing the resource center and managing the lending library of resources. The UMRC will pause its lending and operations on June 1, 2022, and resume operations on August 1, 2022.
