Update: Since the recording of this podcast, the Cook County State’s Attorney charged R. Kelly with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, more than 10 years after he was acquitted of child pornography. On Feb. 22, he was arrested and accused of sexually abusing four victims, at least three of them minors. Kelly’s attorneys maintain their client’s innocence.

On this episode of our first-ever Clergy Conversations podcast, we welcome Rev. Jacques Conway, Chicago Southern District Superintendent who was interviewed in the Surviving R. Kelly six-part documentary on Lifetime as a police expert. The series which first aired in early January brings to light decades of alleged sexual abuse by the R & B singer and gives voice to the survivors (allegations R. Kelly denies).  Rev. Conway shares his personal knowledge into the child pornography case against R. Kelly and why as a pastor he continues to fight for victims of sexual abuse. We also welcome Becky Posey Williams, the Sr. Director for Sexual Ethics and Advocacy at the General Commission on the Status and Role of Women, as we look at how the church can take proactive measures and speak out against sexual misconduct.
