This grant provides financial support for Northern Illinois Conference (NIC) districts and local churches with a passion and plan for organizing, funding and leading youth and/or adult Mission Journey teams. Teams supported by this grant must register with the UMVIM North Central Jurisdiction Coordinator and have medical/accident insurance coverage. In addition, teams must include a trained UMVIM Team Leader who has completed conference-approved training within the past three years. Grant funds of up to $1,000 per team can help cover expenses for UMVIM Team Leader Training, insurance, Safe Sanctuaries Training and other items included in the budget section of the application form.
Grants are accepted on a rolling basis; there is no deadline.
APPLICATION PROCESS
PROJECT EVALUATION
Within two months after returning from your Mission Journey, your team must submit a report that answers:
1. What celebrations or joys occurred because of the mission journey described in the grant proposal?
2. What lessons resulted when plans or expectations changed or when failure occurred? How did the team adapt your plan to meet unexpected challenges?
3. How many people did your team serve through this mission service, and in what ways were their lives touched? Please include stories about the relationship between the UMVIM team and the host site.
4. How did this grant help build new capabilities or capacities for your mission team and the host site?
5. How will your team continue and nurture this relationship in mission? What changes might create more effective mission experiences for future teams?
6. How were funds from this grant used? (Provide dollar amounts and attach copies of receipts.)
