  • Basic Course
"God calls you to a life of servanthood as a disciple of Jesus Christ. …Lay Servant Ministries is the first step for many laypersons toward their faith journey as they strive for a closer relationship with the Lord," the authors write in the introduction.
The Lay Servant Ministries Basic Course is a foundational course designed to equip new church leaders and renew current leaders in The United Methodist Church. It explores personal spiritual gifts, servant leadership, each leader's role in developing future leaders, the importance of consistent spiritual practices, the core ministries of Leading, Caring, and Communicating, and much more.
Student Book: Lay Servant Ministries Participant’s Book by Sandy Zeigler Jackson & Brian Jackson
  • Life Together in the United Methodist Connection (United Methodist Polity)
This course gives participants an overview of the structure and organization of The United Methodist Church. Theology shapes who we are and how we organize to transform the world. A clear understanding of our identity—as Methodists with Wesleyan roots in connection—and our purpose—to make disciples for the transformation of the world—can help students of United Methodism navigate this treacherous landscape as present and future leaders.
A copy of the 2016 Book of Discipline is recommended for this course.
Student book: The Method of our Mission by Prof. Laceye C. Warner
  • Accountable Discipleship
This course focuses on the concept of the household of God, Scripture as divine revelation, Wesleyan understandings of grace, and the importance of the class leader in the development of the Methodist movement.
Student book: Accountable Discipleship By Steven Manskar

  • Soul Reset
Soul Reset is a call for the church and all of Jesus' disciples to reset and reorder their lives around spiritual practices, to learn to walk through our difficult seasons with our souls connected to the source of Living Water so that we don't burn out or break down. And if we do burn out or break down, we learn to lift one another up and point one another back to Jesus.
Student book: Soul Reset - Breakdown, Breakthrough, and the Journey to Wholeness by Junius B Dotson

  • Teaching Biblical Faith: Leading Small Group Bible Studies
Biblical faith is a lens for viewing life, and Jack Seymour refreshingly illustrates how the reading of scripture is a resource for ongoing theological reflection connecting experience, vocation, daily life, and faith. Teaching has concrete consequences affecting the very ways people of faith view the world and make decisions for living. It matters; it makes a difference in how people think and act.
Student Book: Teaching Biblical Faith  by Jack L Seymour

  • Called to Preach- Llamados a Predicar (Spanish Class)
Called to Preach is designed for those who have not completed formal preaching training, for pastors seeking a basic refresher course, and for others who are called upon to preach in a pastor’s absence. Called to Preach is the required preaching course in the lay speaker track of study.
