Welcome our new NIC staff

2017 has presented the Northern Illinois Conference with opportunities to realign our work and staffing. Through the Landscape Assessment in 2015 we’ve learned that we need to work on reorganizing the annual conference. This work is underway. Likewise in our staffing, we live out our core values as a healthy organization when we evaluate, assess and experiment.

Bittersweet memories after sale of Chicago church

Another chapter has closed on a significant Chicago church with a rich history dating back to the 1890s. In October the Northern Illinois Conference finalized the building sale of St. James United Methodist Church located at 4611 South Ellis Avenue, more than six years after its official closing in the spring of 2010.

Accessible Hearts worship experience opens doors

First Evangelical UMC holds an Accessible Hearts Worship in Elmhurst to provide a multi-sensory and support-based experience for families of children and adults with disabilities.
