Bishop Dan Schwerin offers some reflections after listening to how news of The United Methodist General Conference is being received in Northern Illinois.
The 2024 theme is “Rooted and Grounded in Love.”
Heritage Sunday, celebrated the third Sunday of May, is a time for United Methodists to reflect on their legacy and consider their own place in the story of The United Methodist Church.
“The people called Methodists cannot easily be defined. When we seek to celebrate our heritage, we recognize that we represent different cultures, varying theological interpretations and may not agree on some issues," says Dr. Ashley Boggan D., GCAH's general secretary. " However, at our core, we know that God’s love is a common denominator and that we are to be beacons of this enduring love to all we meet,”
