Action on Mothers Day - Walk to Empower against Breast Cancer
04-26-2010By Irma Clark
This Mother’s Day, May 9, 2010, please join me in the 2010 Walk to Empower to help defeat breast cancer. Let’s take a stand against Breast Cancer by walking in Chicago Grant Park from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Let’s ensure that no one faces breast cancer alone.
Breast cancer doesn’t discriminate. It is the most frequently-diagnosed cancer among women. Each year, nearly 24,000 women under age 45 are diagnosed with breast cancer in the U.S., and almost 3,000 women under age 45 will die of this disease. Today there are more than 250,000 breast cancer survivors in the U.S. who were diagnosed at age 40 or younger.
The 2009 Walk to Empower welcomed over 45,000 participants from across the country with donations nearing $5 million. Together we can make a difference.
